Name: Leo Larrere
Title: Software Engineer
I’m a recently graduated 25-year old French guy that moved to the US about 3 years ago. I was drawn to Computer Science during high school, when I created my first (awful) website/blog. Social networks weren’t big back then, so you had to find your own way of showing the world how amazing your life was 😉
I think my close friends would describe me as someone who lives like there’s no tomorrow. I’m always eager to get out of my comfort zone, and I try to work out my happiness muscle as much as possible.
What do you do on the weekends?
During the week I spend my time in front of a screen, so I do the exact opposite during my free time. I travel as much as I can, whether it’s hiking in Yosemite, snowboarding in Tahoe or partying in Vegas. When I can’t do this anymore because I’m either broke or about to die of tiredness, I usually spend my time strolling the city with friends.
Describe what your position entails or tell me about an average day.
I am part of the Engineering department, on the Front-End team, which means I focus on the UI side of our application. A typical day would be having a chat with a PM about a new feature/enhancement and then implementing it. That means building a new webpage in the app, or modifying an existing one. We also work closely with the QA team. They go over everything we do and let us know when something’s wrong.
What 5 songs would be on the playlist of your life?
I listen to a lot of different things depending on the mood I’m in, so they’d be songs that wouldn’t go well together. I’d also pick songs that bring back memories, something like :
• Booker T & The MGs – Green Onions
• Dire Straits – Sultans Of Swing
• The Verve – Lucky Man
• Swedish House Mafia – Save The World
• Massive Attack – Teardrop
What do you like about working at Dynamic Signal?
We are left with great scheduling freedom. Whether you’re an early bird or a late riser, you won’t have to change your pace to work here. The same can be said for the work itself, no one will tell you how to do your job, but if you’re stuck on something and need help, you will always find it. There are no egos here, just very smart people that will be happy to help you out. Oh, and I definitely can’t complain about the free catered lunches ☺
What makes Dynamic Signal different as an employer?
The higher-ups understand that a happy employee is an efficient one. The work environment is the best I’ve had, by far. They’ll also keep us in the loop on how the company is doing and where it’s going.
We’re located in San Bruno, which means we can live in San Francisco without spending an hour on the train each morning!
