HR Business Partner

We are looking for a smart, energetic and knowledgeable HR Business Partner to join our Human Resources team in San Bruno, CA. As the first HRBP in the company, you will be the main resource to ensure that our managers and individual contributors have the support they need to be as effective as possible in their roles. Partnering with Dynamic Signal managers, you will help our teams navigate through tough employee relations issues, provide coaching, guidance and recommendations and help them problem-solve and identify solutions to enhance their effectiveness and performance. You’ll also get creative in the areas of organizational design, talent development, work force planning, succession planning, labor and employee relations, rewards, training, leadership development, and performance management.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Provide HR guidance and support to local and remote employees across a breadth of areas including talent management, employee development, performance management, change management and employee relations
  • Assess the HR implications of business initiatives and provide advice to the management team accordingly
  • Develop and implement strategies to attract and maintain a highly skilled and engaged workforce
  • Manage the successful and consistent implementation of HR initiatives
  • Work with leaders to create positive, safe and productive work environments
  • Conduct effective, thorough and objective investigations
  • Conduct weekly meetings with respective business units
  • Analyze data and metrics in partnership with the HR team to develop solutions, programs and policies
  • Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance
  • Provide day-to-day performance management guidance to business managers (coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions, promotions/transfers/terminations)
  • Work closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, increase employee engagement, and increase productivity and retention
  • Collaborate with the HR team and external consultants to provide compensation and benefits support.
  • Assist international employees with expatriate assignments and related HR matters
  • Provide guidance and input on business unit restructures, workforce planning and succession planning
  • Identify training needs for business units and individual coaching needs
  • Coach business leaders on performance management discussions, employee relations issues, discipline matters, and promotion / transfer / termination discussions

Key Skills and Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in Human Resources, with minimum 3 years in a supervisor role or as an HRBP
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field required
  • Master’s degree in Human Resources or related field preferred
  • Experience in organizational development, employee relations, performance management, coaching, and basic understanding of learning and development, compensation, and benefits.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to coach, influence and partner with various levels of employees
  • Demonstrated experience with HR metrics
  • Proven track record of quickly establishing and maintaining productive, trust-based and effective relationships across a variety of levels and with diverse client groups
  • Experience presenting to a large number of employees, and delivering feedback to senior leadership
  • Demonstrated business acumen and experience implementing HR strategy that supports company objectives
  • Ability to engage, inspire collaboration and effectively work with multiple stakeholders to deliver an HR solution to the business
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, ability to analyze data, understand trends, develop recommendations for action based on the analysis
  • Business experience supporting a large, complex, and diverse organization of over 200 employees with multiple locations
  • Knowledge of CA employment law required
  • Knowledge of NY, NJ, WA employment law preferred
  • Knowledge of international employment law preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise integrity and sound judgment in complex and sensitive situations
  • Experience working in Human Resources at a technology company
  • Knowledge of using HRIS as a system of record
